Amazing Views
When we first discovered this amazing campground we were stunned by the pristine beauty of the lakes carved into the valley. Many of the campsites are perched on the edge of the embankment leading down to the rocky sand shore. We were able to score a site right on the edge of the water. There are many more sites but using campnab to get the best ones is worth it. We had a prime site spaced nicely away from other campers and were able to scramble down to the water's edge to eat our breakfast and take in the view. This is a don't miss campground.
Our new favourite campground! 🏕
We can't get over how beautiful it was at Martha Creek Provincial Park in August. With blue skys and temperatures over 30°, nothing could have be better than a dip in Lake Revelstoke while taking in the views. Although the campground was about 15 minutes out of cell service, it made for a more relaxing trip!
The campground itself was very clean and well maintained. We stayed in the newer loop where 30 campsites were added in 2019. The waterfront sites are obviously preferable as most have water access. The non-waterfront sites are quite nice as well as the sites in the loop are tiered giving them lake views! At the end of the newer loop is a day-use water access point with picnic tables.
A shower building was also added in 2019 which was a bonus, although its a decent walk from the newer loop. Luckily the pit toilets were kept clean and didn't smell!
We also took a drive up the lake and checked out Wadey and Carnes Creek Recreation Sites.
Wadey was quite nice and well forested, but most sites are better suited to tenting or smaller trailers. The sites right on the beach looked amazing, and were the only sites taken when we drove through.
Carnes Creek was a bit less appealing to us. The sites tended to be less private and the campground road was very dusty. The campground was almost at capacity on the Tuesday morning with all of the empty waterfront sites being "held" with a single camp chair in the middle of the sites. While there are large signs stating sites cannot be held, trying to have the rules enforced would likely make for a bad start to a camping trip! We would rather pay $28/night for Martha Creek and have reservations in a much nicer park than save $13/night to try FCFS.
Along highway 23 there were quite a few "crown land" camp spots right on the lake. Some looked pretty good, but they were also very popular as most were almost full.
