Summer paradise

Love me some Mabel lake. It’s right on the lake and if you can gather some buddies; it has the most epic group site ever. The group site has an entire point to yourself, an awesome covered picnic area, a private beach and flush washrooms. There is a little creek that runs along the side which is perfect for any friends who tent.

The main site is pretty standard for bc parks…lots of trees, fairly spread out, and decent clean facilities. There is a boat launch and this cool little floating store/marina that is perfect for ice and snacks. You can also rent some old sketchy ass tin boats, and the original first ever made paddle boards. There isn’t cell service (yahoo!) but if you stand on the end of the marinas dock, you can send and receive texts.

There is a great little hike down the road about 15m past the site that has a strange little forest hike/trail with borderline creepy elves and artsy gnomes. You’ll know the entrance because there is a shoe tree. It winds down to a stunning pebble beach with beautiful views and huge driftwood piles.

Mabel can be buggy in June, and it’s a tight valley so you do lose the sun early…but overall it’s got everything you need. Beautiful waterfront, incredible views, playground for kids, access to ice and snacks, and driftwood beaches that go in and on. It’s a total gem.

Gorgeous park - be cool with bugs

We scored a site here with Campnab in July 2022. This is a beautiful spot! There is plenty of water access, so if your site isn't right by the water it's not hard to get to. It was well run, with good hosts that didn't allow it to be a party site (which apparently it was previously.) There is a little (expensive) floating store next door for anything you forget or treats, with canoe rentals too. There's no cell service out here, so be prepared to relax! It CAN be very buggy, and this is apparently normal. We scored our first site with campnab but then got 2 more nights just by people leaving early due to the mosquitoes. We had a screen tent to hang out in and conveniently, you can buy very expensive additional bug spray from the floating store. (bring lots.) Still a gorgeous spot!
