Not our fav, grassy campsites

Oof…definitely not our favourite campsite. We had high hopes for this one, and even did our research to try and find a good spot. But alas, it wasn’t meant to be. Quite a few campsites similar to ours backed onto private property (houses) and that felt a little weird, and the site overall was kinda odd - just a paved spot for your car but the rest was like a wide open field. It worked fine for us tenting but I can’t imagine how that would work for a trailer or RV. Not a lot of tree cover and quite windy with the ocean nearby (we could’ve taken that into consideration with planning, for sure!). Main perk was that the bathrooms were nice and clean :) Probably won’t be back, although the coast was beautiful and the dunes themselves were fun to plan on.

chill and close to home

The Bodega Dunes campground is lovely. It's not right on the beach but tucked in the dunes, which makes for a quiet, peaceful place to get away and enjoy coastal wildlife and nature. Plus we can bring our dog on leash! Clean, quiet, camp hosts are helpful.

Hidden Gem, Only 27 Sites

All campsites in this campground are a short walk to the beach. Campsites 1-10 back right up to the beach, so if your RV has one of those rear picture windows, those are the sites for you. We've been going here for over 30 years. There's fresh water and toilets with plumbing but no showers and no hookups. Campers are allowed to use the dump station and showers down the road at Bodega Dunes campground. There's nice hiking on the ridge which overlooks the campground. It's rare but on one trip we even saw a pod of humpback whales just off the beach.
