Nice in the Spring

We visited the Oak Loop campground in May which was a good time because there is no shade at the sites. The whole park has a "meadow" feel to it unlike most state parks that are wooded. The bird watching was fun. Unfortunately we didn't have great weather to do lake activities and that is the main draw of the park. If you go in summer the lake is alive . . . but you'll bake at your campsite. On our rainy day we enjoyed ice cream at the Dairy Barn about 15 minutes away. Really affordable prices and delicious homemade ice cream and baked goods. Closed on Sunday, cash only.
