Lake Wallula, located in northeastern Oregon and southeastern Washington along the Columbia River, provides for water fun and relaxation. Up-lake near the junction of Highways 12 and 730 in Washington is an area known as Wallula Gap where the canyon narrows. Wallula Gap is the site of colorful Indian lore and is a place where interesting natural phenomena occurred during an ancient catastrophic event known as the Great Missoula Floods.
Lake Wallula is a reservoir on the Columbia River in the United States, between the U.S. states of Washington and Oregon. It was created in 1954 with the construction of McNary Dam. It reaches from McNary Dam near the city of Umatilla, Oregon, to the Tri-Cities of Washington.
Lake Wallula is part of the vast Columbia Basin, a region renowned for its agricultural productivity, hydroelectric power generation, and a destination for recreational activities.
