Beautiful and lots to do
I went with two friends, women over 54 in a small trailer, and we had a great time. The sites surrounding us were quiet, good swimming in several lakes, an interesting line dancing program, well marked and diverse trails with good info. Good nature info programs that we didn’t participate in. It was nice to have a substantial store just outside the park entrance.
Great for families.
This park has it all. Great campgrounds with new well kept comfort stations, plus flush toilets throughout. All in three motor free lakes with a main beach and many smaller beaches. Lots of hiking, kayaking, and even some cliff jumping.
GRUNDY PARK
We camped for the first time at Gundy this summer (2023)
While our site wasn't our first choice, it was what we could get so it worked for us. Beaches are small at Grundy so if you are a beach lover, you may be disappointed but the beauty of the rocks, lakes, hiking, biking are the main attractions here.
There are some gorgeous hydro sites along the water in other areas of the park but difficult to get for prime summer camping dates.
We loved, loved, loved the peacefulness of the park. Kayaking was perfect among the 3 lakes. Very scenic lakes. Loved that there were no motor boats in the lakes.
We also took a day to kayak at Killarney, which was just over an hour away.
Grundy Lake
We really enjoyed our stay at Grundy. The jumping rocks were a big hit with the kids. The campsite was large and fit everything nicely, plus 2 vehicles! We also hiked Swan Lake, and thought it was a nice little trail.
Nice park
Our family stayed at Grundy Lake for 4 nights. We did a lot of swimming and kayaking. There was some road noise that could be heard at night, but this wouldn’t stop us from visiting again.
Great family campground
This campground is one of our all time favourites. The trails are great. The facilities are clean and tidy. There are laundry facilities, plenty of showers and most of the vault toilets are flush. The campground has four lakes within its boundaries and there are lots of beaches to choose from. All of the lakes are great for kayaking, canoeing and paddleboarding. The are no motorboats allowed and that includes trolling motors. There is a large presence of friendly staff who are readily available to assist you if needed. There are plenty of scheduled activities offering information about nature, teaching you how to fish etc...etc. There is a cliff viewing area that most of the campers dive from. There is a variety of heights to dive from too - 6', 10', and 20'. The campground is well supervised and therefore reasonably quiet at night. One word of caution. This campground has an active black bear population in the area. It is not uncommon to see them during the day or the night, so you really have to be diligent at putting all of your food and garbage away and out of sight. Any food storage item should be stored out of sight even if it is empty, so as not to attract the bears, raccoons etc.
Excellent Park
Very well maintained campground. We have been camping here for years. Three small inland lakes which are great for canoeing, kayaking or paddle boarding on.
So much to love.
Grundy is one of our favorite parks it's far enough away to feel like we are getting away, but not so far we can't stay for a weekend.
The two main lakes Grundy and Gurd are both stunning. There is 'cliffs' for Rock jumping, beautiful places to watch the sunset, hiking trails are great, and I almost caught the biggest pike of my life.....for that alone I will return again and again...I know he's there!
