A Decent State Park With a Lousy Road

This park is more typical of Florida inland parks than a coastal park even though it's located only a couple of miles from the Atlantic Ocean. It's clean and well-kept, except for the roadway. It's a loose, sandy road that would be nearly impassable in moderate rain. It consists of rutted, loose sand that almost causes you to bog down in dry weather. Likewise, the small campground is loose sand on the roadway and the campsites (my photo may mislead you because it's a handicapped site with a concrete pad -- most don't have the concrete). I wouldn't recommend this park if you have an alternate park you can choose, but if you decide to camp at Faver-Dykes just be aware that it's not one of Florida's better parks.
