Great bird watching and camping
Boyd lake has nice sites, lots of birds and is a beautiful location.
Nice park close to Denver for a quickie!
Boyd Lake State Park is only about an hour from Denver, so its a nice place to do a quick get away. Not a park if you are wanting to “get away from it all”. It is only electric sites and basic sites but there is a free dump and water station. Sites are relatively level and a good size, picnic tables and fire rings included and there are trees around some of the sites. You are very close to the lake no matter the site, but will have to walk a bit to the swim beach if it’s that time of year. It’s a nice swim beach with bathrooms and a no wake zone, as motors are allowed on the lake. Great bike/walking paths are all around the park. Playgrounds and horseshoes available. Bathrooms are warm and clean, showers are not free but there to use. Some sites have nice lake views and most are close enough to the lake to put a paddle board or kayak in somewhere. This is a Colorado state park, so along with your camping fee you will also pay a use fee or need a state park pass.
