Overview
A brief introduction to Allatoona Lake
Allatoona Lake is one of the most frequently visited U.S. Army Corps of Engineers lakes in the nation. Located only 30 miles from Atlanta, more than 6 million visitors each year enjoy picnicking, camping, hunting, fishing, swimming and other water sports, and observing the abundant wildlife along the shores of this beautiful lake. The visitor center features video exhibits and displays about the area's history, ranging from the time of early Indians to the gold mining and iron making days, from Civil War up to the present.
Allatoona is an unincorporated community in Bartow County, in the U.S. state of Georgia. The community is located along Allatoona Creek, 6 miles (9.7 km) southeast of Cartersville. It was once a small mining community until a dam was erected at the base of the Etowah River, completely flooding the town of Allatoona. It is today perhaps best known as the site of the Battle of Allatoona.

Nice if you just want to stay at your site
There are some beautiful sites on the lake, however, it is not a park where you can walk around or watch your kids ride bikes. I don’t think we will return due to the train noise that carries across the lake. For some people noise in the distance doesn’t bother them. It was a little too much for me. Still, a nice park especially if you have an enclosed Quiet trailer.
Nice park if you get the right spot.
Last time we checked this park was closed. Unsure why. The buddy sites on the lake were really nice and big. The other sites were iffy. Not level and not a lot of shade. Not a favorite unless we can get the buddy sites with a friend.
Great campground for families!
This park has at all. Playground, lake, restaurant at the marina you can walk to. It is used for Cub Scouts and other groups. The 20s section is a cul-de-sac where you can watch your kids ride their bikes around the place and it is very safe. We have many memories of camping here with our kids, and now they are young adults camping on their own at Victoria! Love it!
