Price Canyon Recreation Area Camping

Price Canyon Recreation Area is open seasonally due to snow and winter road conditions. Typical operating season is May through November. For questions please call the Price Field Office 435-636-3600.

Overview

The Price Canyon Recreation Area offers visitors a chance to enjoy cooler temperatures and the shade of large ponderosa pine trees during the summer. The recreation area is located on a ridge high above Price Canyon. The access road is paved; however the road is steep and narrow.

The Price Canyon Recreation Area boasts a nature trail that provides excellent views of our rugged canyon country and features a stand of bristlecone pine trees. The bristlecone pine tree is one of the longest living life forms on Earth.

Much of the area was burned in the 2021 Bear Fire, including several of the Bristlecone Pines.

Campground

12 Large, well-spaced campsites area available as first come first serve. Facilities at the campground include picnic tables, fire rings, vault toilets and parking spaces.

The Price Canyon Recreation Area is a U.S. Fee Area. A fee of $15 is charged for overnight camping. Golden Age and Senior Pass 50% off discounts are honored.

Please note- there is no electricity, water or sewer site hookups at these sites.

Day Use

Three group picnic areas with large picnic tables, toilets, fire rings and parking are available. They can be reserved for a fee by calling 435-636- 3600.

Trails

There is a nature trail that leads to stands of bristle cone pine trees then follows the old road to the Ford Ridge communication towers.

Road conditions

The road up to Price Canyon Recreation Area is narrow and steep, with tight turns and switchbacks. Long vehicle lengths not recommended. Total vehicle length should generally not exceed 40 feet (truck with a short trailer).
