A brief introduction to Abilene State Park
Abilene State Park is a 529.4-acre (214.2 ha) state park next to Lake Abilene about 15 miles (24 km) southwest of Abilene, Texas on FM 89. The park opened on May 10, 1934 and is managed by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.

Great shaded camping spots
We camped here for four nights in June and so happy to have full shade over our trailer. The camp hosts were super nice and even lent us a portable fan when our AC stopped working. The park is near the town of Buffalo Gap with some retail and awesome weekend flea markets.
