Length does matter (when it comes to beaches)

What do sheep wear to the beach? A baa-kini.

While it doesn’t boast the widest beach, it might be one of the longest lake beaches.

This 196 site campground boasts a fabulous beach. It’s long with almost fluffy yellow sand. There’s very few rocks or pebbles and is very foot friendly.

The lake is really clear and surprisingly warm. There was little plant growth in the swimming area (which the kids loved). I would assume there’s good fishing by the number of geared up boats, cleaning stations, etc.

The birds are plentiful and diverse, they’ll sing you to sleep and wake you far earlier than desirable, but they’re great to hear.

Pros:

Clean clear lake

Large, well treed sites

Laundry available on site for cost (6 quarters per load, summer 2023)

Cons:

Tired, needs an injection of funding (things are literally falling apart)

Tiered pricing if you are from out of province

Check-in process is slow and can be painful

There’s a little store which sells the necessities, including frozen dairy novelties (aka ice cream). Also available on-site are canoe, life jacket, etc rentals.

Bring your beach toys on an extra long weekend to really enjoy Blue Lake.
