A brief introduction to Myakka River State Park

Myakka River State Park is a Florida State Park, that is located nine miles (14 km) east of Interstate 75 in Sarasota County and a portion of southeastern Manatee County on the Atlantic coastal plain. This state park consists of 37,000 acres (150 km2), making it one of the state's largest parks. It is also one of the oldest parks in the state. It was delineated in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps. A small portion (1,920 acres or 7.8 km2) of the park was the gift of the family of Bertha Palmer to the state. The park is named after the Myakka River.

Full hookups

Best loop to stay in. Clean bathrooms, level and graveled sites. Hurricane Ian tore this place apart and removed a lot of trees. Still a fantastic place to stay. You'll love all the alligators!

A Nice, Clean Park

This park suffered some damage from a recent hurricane and a lot of trees are down (you'll see one in my photo), but it's still in good shape and well worth the visit. The campground has an unpaved road but the campsites are nice and well-maintained.

Hikes, bikes, boat rides, gators, and more

We ended up at myakka river state park because the park we were to stay at was clised from ian. (Thank you csmpnab for helping up get here). A pleasant place to be, offers a mix of full hook up sites and just water hook up with dump site available.

the rangers at this park were the nicest and most helpful in all my camp experiences.

Easy park to get around in, offers a variety of lengths of hikes, and there are gators, birds and wildlife everywhere.

We saw some pretty impressive gators and extremely impressive equipment that ppl had while trying to capture images of them. This was just on a walk in the park. There is also an option to apply for 1 of 30 permits given out daily to hike to a sink hole that is filled with fish. As it receeds, the fish are trapped and becomes a buffet for gators. A cool hike, we saw about 50/60 big gators along the bank of this lake. Crazy and cool to see.

The campsites are clean and well attended to.
