Hidden gem
This park has existed forever, dating back to the 1930's, when the CCC put depression era workers to work. There is no cell service, and no running water (pumps are installed instead) but it doesn't deter the campground from being full every weekend. Lovely loop for bikes and walking at night. Two rivers, the Salmon la Sac and the Cooper, run on either side of the campground. It's close to a lake for swimming if wading in the river isn't enough. Hikes for those inclined to Cooper and Waptus Lake. Most campers visit every year. Huckleberries close by in late August as well. Wonderful spot for respite or family trips!
